About Charleston Real Team

Jim Grady and Gary Short met through Keller-Williams Realty in 2005.  While working together at the same real estate agency, they realized they both possessed the same core values – integrity, morals, philanthropy, loyalty, and superior customer service.  Jim and Gary also understood that real estate is about relationships and community, and they wanted to build upon those relationships and work together to help home buyers and sellers.  In 2007, they joined forces and formed the Charleston Real Team.

Jim Grady

Jim Grady spent the first 15 years of his career working with special needs adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings.  Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of a 60 bed adolescent behavioral health treatment center in the Charleston SC area and was a national speaker, trainer, and consultant on sexual abuse treatment and prevention for children and adolescents.  In July 2005 he “retired” from this career, and Jim became a full-time Realtor with Keller-Williams.  He is a top producer at Keller-Williams and a “Capper,” an award given for outstanding sales performance.  Jim is an Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR), an e-pro, and a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, and the Real Estate Buyer's Advisory Council (REBAC).  Jim is also a member of Keller-Williams Mount Pleasant’s Agency Leadership Council, serving as the Chairman of the Technology Committee.  Jim earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina.  He continues his philanthropic endeavors today by serving as a Lowcountry Advisory Board Member and a Co-Chairman of the Prevent-a-thon for Darkness to Light, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child sexual abuse.  Married to Sherri, he has two children, Abbey and Sean.  Jim spends his free time coaching soccer at the Mount Pleasant Soccer Club and plays the piano and keyboards at his church, St. Andrew’s in Mount Pleasant.

Gary Short

Gary and his wife moved to Charleston in 1994 from Providence, Rhode Island.  Prior to his real estate career, Gary Short worked as a full-time entrepreneur, owning and then selling a variety of successful businesses including a transportation/logistics company and a Chick-Fil-A franchise.  Gary also worked as a regional sales manager for Coca-Cola Consolidated Bottling Company for over seven years.  He became a full-time Realtor with Keller-Williams in 2003.  He is a top producer at Keller-Williams and a “Capper,” an award given for outstanding sales performance.  Gary is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.  Gary has served for the past three years on the Keller-Williams Mount Pleasant Agency Leadership Council as the Technology Committee Chairman and as the City-Wide Technology Committee Chairman.  Married to Noreen, they have two children, Caleb and Bella Rose.  Gary and his family enjoy water skiing, jet skiing, the beach, and attending Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant.
